SAP Region Lookup
Every SAP calculation is tied to one of 21 UK climate regions, and the region comes from the postcode. Enter a postcode below to see which region applies.
A full postcode, or just the outward part such as BD23.
What the region is used for
The region sets the external temperature, wind speed and solar radiation figures a SAP calculation runs against, so the same dwelling can produce a different result in Cornwall than it does in Aberdeen. Approved SAP software applies the region for you once the postcode is entered — this tool is here for when you want to check it, or need the region before the software is open.
Regions 5, 7, 8 and 9 cross a national border and carry a letter for the country (for example 5E Severn England and 5W Severn Wales). Both halves share the same weather data.
Source: SAP 10.3 specification, Appendix U, Table U6. Where the full postcode district is known, SAP takes weather data from the Product Characteristics Database instead; these regions apply where it doesn’t.
If you’re an assessor carrying more work than you can turn around, we take on overflow and subcontract SAP calculations for other practices.
