Who We Are and What We Do
SAPgen is a specialist SAP Calculation service. We produce the SAP Calculations that demonstrate Part L compliance for new build homes, conversions and extensions, and we lodge the EPC at completion.
We work with:
- House builders and small developers
- Architects and designers
- Self-builders and homeowners
- Contractors delivering design-and-build schemes
All you need to do is send your drawings and specification. We model the building, tell you clearly whether it passes, and give practical advice to get failing designs to the right standard without over-specifying.
Who Is Behind SAPgen?
SAPgen is run by Ian Kay, an Elmhurst-accredited OCDEA and former builder. It is practical advice from someone who has laid foundations, built walls and fitted insulation, not just modelled them on a screen.
How We Work
-
1
Clear Scope and Fixed Fees
We start by understanding your project type, the number of plots and which stage you are at. Pricing is fixed and published up front, so you know the cost before any work starts.
-
2
Design Support, Not Just Pass or Fail
Where a result is close to failing, we give targeted, cost-effective recommendations rather than generic "improve insulation" notes, so the fix works on site as well as on paper.
-
3
Fast Turnaround and Clear Reports
Most single dwellings are turned around within a few working days, with reports Building Control can follow easily. We provide BREL reports and lodge the EPC at As-Built stage.
What We Specialise In
Our focus is domestic SAP Calculations for:
- New build houses and flats
- Barn, garage and change-of-use conversions
- Extensions that trigger the glazing rule
Each has slightly different Part L requirements. We tailor the approach and the explanation so you understand exactly what is being checked and why.
Where We Work and Who We Work With
We work with clients across the UK. Because SAP Calculations are completed from your digital drawings and specification, there is rarely any need for site visits, which keeps costs predictable and turnaround times consistent.
Typical clients include:
- Architects looking for a reliable SAP partner for repeat projects
- Small developers and builders wanting clear, repeatable specifications
- Self-builders navigating Part L for the first time
- Homeowners dealing with extension glazing rules and Building Control queries
Whether you are experienced with SAP or completely new to it, the goal is the same: to get your project signed off without unnecessary delays or surprises.
